Ever since I was a little kid I've been obsessed with efficiency; making and doing things better, faster, cheaper...
In fact, I thought everyone was that way. And then I graduated college and got my first taste of the 'real world.'
Everywhere I looked I saw people working their tails off, but without a clear sense of purpose or direction.
Instead of efficiently executing on their dreams, many of my peers and colleagues were fearfully, and frantically, working up the ladder of success without knowing if the ladder was actually propped against the right wall.
I was devastated. I did not want to live, or work, this way.
As most people do, I faced some incredible challenges as I worked to discover a healthier, happier way to live and work.
I quickly realized that the lack of direction and purpose I observed among my colleagues and friends was endemic to the global business environment.
Despite spending thousands of hours, and millions of dollars, on strategic planning initiatives, most companies still struggled to consistently, and profitably, hit their goals.
Even more, the constant changes to the company's strategic direction only led to more busyness and burnout within the business.
It was a vicious cycle.
